Traditional foods of Rajasthan
Indian Food is famous not only for the delicious taste but also for the divergent and multifarious cuisine provided by it. In this large sub-continent,there is conglomeration of people of diverse ethnicities, culture and heritage. Food is always a very important part of the social culture and heritage in any country. Indian food has excelled in providing divergent delicacies that are area specific.
One of the states in India that is famous for its warriors, Rajasthan offers a variety of Indian Recipes not available in any other parts of India. Some of the famous dishes of Rajasthan are Daal-Baati, Tarfini, Raabdi, Bail-Gatte, Pachkoota, Chaavadi, Laapsi, Nukhti, Ghoogri and Dhungari Chhaachh.
You will not come across many recipes in Rajasthan made with Indian Rice. Rice is not the favored staple food in this state. People are accustomed to desert climates which are dry and therefore the preferred staple food is wheat, Bajra and Jwaar. Bread and milk products are common while non-vegetarian items like the Indian Chicken Recipes are a rarity.
It does not mean that the people of Rajasthan do not use curry. They make delicious curries with lasting leaves and vegetables that could be preserved for a long time. Some of the popular Rajasthan curries are Kicha Ki Sabji, Gajar Ki Sabji, Keri Ki Sabji, Makki Ki Raab, Kikoda Ki Sabji, and Aloo Matar Ki Sabji. Peas and potato are main contents of the curries.
